Robotic assisted Knee Replacement at the Nuffield Hospital
Paul Gibb & Nick Bowman visited the Smith & Nephew Surgical training centre in Watford once again prior to the commissioning of the Navio robotic system at the Nuffield Hospital in Tunbridge Wells. The Navio system utilises computer navigation and intraoperative mapping to generate a three dimensional virtual knee model which assists the operating surgeon in both accurately sizing and positioning the implants in three dimensions. The hand held robotic tool is controlled by the operating surgeon and its action moderates the effects of their movements.
